The Town of West Hartford has officially begun the New Park Avenue Complete Streets Improvements project!
Town officials recently learned that the State of Connecticut has committed to fund two grants totaling $3.7 million to support the New Park Avenue Complete Streets Improvements project. This project seeks to improve the pedestrian and bicycle experience along New Park Avenue while calming traffic and improving safety. The project will enhance New Park Avenue between New Britain Avenue and Oakwood Avenue with core elements such as buffered bike lanes, landscaped medians, wayfinding signage, and enhanced mid-block crosswalks. The roadway will be resurfaced and reduced to one travel lane in each direction with a center two-way left-turn lane. Town surveyors will be on site for the next several months as the design process gets underway. For more information, click the link below or contact the Town of West Hartford: [email protected]
Survey and design have begun, with an expected construction start date of mid-2022. Construction is expected to finish by the end of 2023.
