Alexi, tell us a bit about what makes Dalene so special.
My grandfather started the company with his dad in 1949, so this year will be 71 years in business. A lot of what sets Dalene Flooring apart is the family atmosphere and our value system. It radiates from the years of dedication from the employees and on to the customer. We have people who have worked with us for 30 or even 45 years. These decades upon decades of knowledge are really incomparable, we have seen every challenge and situation there is regarding flooring and home construction. We use our experience from every project, no matter what scale, to develop a technical understanding of how to approach any renovation.
Another part of our floor services is Dustless Sanding and Refinishing. We run three to four dustless trailers throughout Connecticut on a daily basis. Customers really appreciate this service because their floors can be sanded virtually dust-free. With our dust containment system, there’s no airborne dust generated to permeate a home, making for safer air to breathe and cleaner surfaces.
How do you help your customers during a remodeling process?

An expert designer will be there to help you through all the stages of your project, which is not just limited to the flooring. Our designers come out to your home, help you to pick out paint, window treatments, and any other finishes to make your design journey as enjoyable and successful as possible. What are you seeing in terms of popular trends right now?
People tend to be leaning towards more hard surfaces with hardwood and luxury vinyl tile. You can then layer these with an area rug that adds warmth and style to your home. At Dalene, we offer custom rug fabrication. You can pick any one of our carpet samples to be bound into area rugs to accent your new hard flooring. For carpeting, the trends are really all over the place depending on personal style and preference. We see a lot of neutral fibrous texture or a bold bright pop of color. It’s great because flooring is so easily customizable to match your style.
