Design District Unveils Rebrand, Launches New Website

Apr 28, 2020

The Home Design District Association has announced the launch of its new name, logo, and website in celebration of its growing business community and the evolution of enterprises that currently occupy the southeast corner of West Hartford. Now known as the Design District of West Hartford, the Association is excited to welcome new and expanding businesses and industries into an area that has become known throughout Connecticut for its concentration of home design and remodeling companies.

The Design District of West Hartford is centered around the square mile that surrounds New Park Avenue and has recently expanded to include much of the 06110 zip code. Over the past three years, the area has seen considerable growth with dozens of businesses in a variety of industries putting down roots throughout the corridor. The rebrand was developed to represent the business community in its entirety and to showcase the diversity of this up and coming section of West Hartford. The Design District will celebrate its 15th anniversary this coming summer.

“We have seen major changes in the Design District over the past few years and we wanted to be sure that the businesses who were getting started in the District felt represented and could get involved with a group of seasoned business owners who have been here for decades,” said Design District President Dave Chmielewski. “It is daunting when you start your own business and the Association is all about helping each other by providing referrals, making connections, and promoting the area through collaborative marketing campaigns and economic development. We have seen a major influx of food and beverage, fitness and wellness, and retail companies as well as more businesses in the home and design category. As an Association, we want to make sure that all the businesses in this neighborhood can benefit from our shared resources and thrive in the Design District.”

As part of the Design District Association, members enjoy high visibility on the designdistrictct.com website which includes monthly special offers and featured business blog posts. The Association also maintains active Facebook and Instagram accounts and coordinates bi-monthly email newsletters, digital media ad campaigns, and monthly workshops all designed to give greater visibility and generate more leads for businesses. The Association also holds monthly meetings at each member business where they get a chance to hear from local government, economic and small business specialists, and discuss new business and referral opportunities. Members pay an annual fee and receive benefits according to the sponsorship level that suits their needs.

“The business owners who collaborated to form and further the mission of the Home Design District have really worked to put this area on the map,” said Kristen Gorski, Economic Development Specialist for the Town of West Hartford. “It is now not only a popular destination to patronize the variety of shops, eateries and gyms, it continues to be a more and more attractive place to open for business. When joining the Design District, you are immediately connected to a network of professionals who are passionate about helping your business and the area succeed. With a renewed focus on supporting members from all industries, the sky’s the limit.”

The Design District is now welcoming applications for membership and invites all prospective members to join their monthly meeting on May 13th at 8:30am via Zoom. Prospective members can find out more information via the website at https://designdistrictct.com/business-membership-signup/
